Presbyterian Women

Women of the Way

The Presbyterian Women of FPC are filling the roles today of ushers, greeters, readers, teachers, Elders and Deacons, knitters of prayer shawls and coordinate the serving of punch and cookies in Spencer Hall after each worship service.

We provide opportunities for fellowship, community giving and growing our faith through a variety of programs and activities. We welcome all women of the church and guests to our gatherings. The PW has four Circles which meet monthly at various times for Bible Studies and fellowship. Currently our Circle meetings are taking place either in person or through Zoom.

The Presbyterian Women give over $10,000 each year to local charities. They honor veterans in November, collect blankets and jackets on Blanket Sunday and school supplies for needy children. Many members volunteer at local agencies. They rock babies, teach children to read in after-school literacy programs, cook and serve meals to the homeless and join in the construction of houses at Habitat for Humanity.

The PW nurture their faith through prayer and Bible study and want everyone to feel welcome to join them. Women can be a member of a Circle or not. Some ladies just attend the Gatherings or other activities.

Helping Hands Ministry

This group operates under the direction of the Presbyterian Women and meets twice a month (with the exception of the summer months) and you don't have to be there each week. Join them when you can.  Anyone that sews, knits or crochets is welcome to join them.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The shawl maker begins with prayers and blessings for the recipient.  The intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl.  Upon completeion a final blessing is given.

Prayer shawls are given to those dealing with a serious health issue or the loss of a loved one.  We also give one to each of our High School graduates as they begin their new journey.

Sew & Sews Ministry

Currently, the Sew and Sews have challenged themselves to make a quilt for each family as a “house warming gift” when they move into their new home at the Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance.  Past sewing projects include making dresses for the Tumaini fund in Africa, tote bags filled with personal hygiene supplies, and blankets/knit caps for the children in Guateala.

Women's Bible Study

The Women's Bible Study is held on Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. This Bible Study does not require any homework!  Discussion, prayer and study are their focus.
